Linda Vista Community Park and Recreation Center

What We’re Doing

To create a more vibrant and engaging community space the San Diego Parks Foundation is working on the following upgrades:

  • Renovation of the Athletic Fields to improve safety, playability, and the ability to generate revenue from league rentals to invest in the center’s ongoing programming and facility needs.

  • Resurfacing of the Basketball and Tennis Courts and planting 26 trees to increase the opportunities for passive recreation.

  • Installation of enhanced landscaping and a community garden in collaboration with the Bayside Community Center.

  • The re-establishment of the Linda Vista Community Garden will increase equitable access to green space; increase the availability of fresh, healthy produce in the community; and create a space for outdoor educational workshops. The project would convert an unused dirt patch at the corner of the Linda Vista Community Park into an active green gathering space for the neighborhood. Once opened, the LVCG will serve as an educational hub for Bayside’s Environmental Learning Center (BELC), provide growing spaces for the residents of Linda Vista, and help supplement the developing alternative food systems in the neighborhood, which is a federally-defined food desert.

  • Refurbishment of the playground to increase to make it universally accessible to all children and the addition of adult fitness equipment to support healthy and active lifestyle for parents and caretakers
